The $99.99 Wave Go clips onto your clothes just like DJI’s Mic Mini, with hands-free recording for vlogging and content creation. The Wave Go is tiny, about the size of an AirPod, so it disappears on camera and only weighs seven grams. Despite the tiny size, Elgato is promising “broadcast-quality” audio, with a condenser capsule that supports EQ shift, auto gain, and noise cancellation. The Wave Go clips onto clothes with a magnetic clip and plate, and a single button lets you power on the microphone or mute it.
You can also double-press the button to launch the camera app on your phone. The Wave Go can slot into the top of Elgato’s Smart Handle to transform into a full-size interview mic. Image: ElgatoElgato has also created a Smart Handle for the Wave Go, a bundled accessory that turns it into a full-size interview mic. The Wave Go simply slots into the top of the Smart Handle, which has a power and mute button with an LED indicator for power, mute, and pairing status. The handle also acts as a charger for the Wave Go, adding five more charges, which at around eight hours per charge gives you 48 hours in total.
You can also quick-charge in 10 minutes to get around an hour of recording time. The USB-C receiver is made for phones, so it works with iPhones, Android devices, and iPads. It connects to the microphone over a 2.4GHz wireless signal, so there’s no Bluetooth here, and the latency is around 24ms or less. The Smart Handle, mic, and USB-C receiver can all be secured inside the included case, but the case doesn’t have an integrated battery, so the Smart Handle is the main way to charge on the go.The Wave Go has a carry case that houses the mic, USB-C receiver, and Smart Handle. Image: ElgatoElgato has also created a Wave Go mobile app that lets you monitor live audio levels, enable noise reduction, toggle automatic leveling, and check battery status.
You can even use the Wave Go on a desktop PC with Elgato’s Wave Link 3.0 software, simply by plugging the receiver into a USB-C port. The Wave Go is available today priced at $99.99 (€99.99 / £99.99), and a second mic transmitter is available for $29.99 if you want to record a second voice.Follow topics and authors from this story to see more like this in your personalized homepage feed and to receive email updates.Tom WarrenCreatorsGadgetsNewsTechMost PopularA college in Illinois tried to cancel its Flock contact and it refusedThe Fitbit Edge is for folks who don’t want to go totally screenlessGTA VI leaks continue with a lengthy (and very nude) gameplay videoHow Apple can win the smart homeThe Yandex outage probably didn’t blitz Russian botsAdvertiser Content FromThis is the title for the native ad
