Liam Lawson will replace Hadjar for a third successive race as Max Verstappen’s team-mate at Red Bull, while Yuki Tsunoda continues at Racing Bulls. Hadjar suffered a hairline fracture in a bone in his wrist during the summer break in a routine workout that involved boxing which forced him to miss the Dutch, Italian and now Spanish Grands Prix. “The decision has been taken as Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively. While he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team. “Everyone at Red Bull Racing looks forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon.” Lawson impressively qualified only one tenth behind Verstappen at Zandvoort and finished the Dutch Grand Prix in seventh – a complete contrast to his two Red Bull outings at the start of 2025 before he was dropped. The Monza result looks set to be appealed by rivals Audi over an incident at the standing restart, which saw Tsunoda pull into the wrong grid slot, triggering an extra formation lap. The 26-year-old, who was dropped by Red Bull last season, expressed hope ahead of the Italian Grand Prix that he could convince someone to give him a seat on the grid in 2027.
