An official announcement issued on Friday revealed that the ownership group is open to selling Everton Football Club. Explaining their stance, the organization noted, “With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton. We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.” Potential buyers must prove their capacity to guide the Merseyside team responsibly before any deal is negotiated. Management emphasized that prospective suitors will be rigorously vetted to guarantee the team’s long-term progress.
This potential transaction follows the complete acquisition finalized in December 2024 by American billionaire Dan Friedkin’s firm, which concluded Farhad Moshiri’s tenure at the helm. Reflecting on their initial arrival, the leadership stated, “When TFG became custodians of Everton, the club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch,” referring to the predicament they inherited. They added, “The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.” Having established that baseline, the American entity feels equipped to hand over control to a successor.
During this transitionary phase, the current proprietors maintain that day-to-day operations and competitive ambitions will not waver. Emphasizing their ongoing dedication, the group declared, “Throughout this process, TFG’s focus will remain unchanged.” They further pledged, “We will support the club in all ways necessary to achieve success on the pitch and will continue efforts to make a positive difference in the communities the club serves.” No additional public remarks will be offered while discussions proceed, as “TFG and the club will not be commenting further while this work is underway.”
