The round values the San Francisco startup at $4.1bn after the money, it said in a statement on Monday. It brings the company’s total funding to nearly $1bn.
Bloomberg first reported the round. In February, Bedrock was valued at $1.75bn when it raised $270M, Edward Ludlow wrote for Bloomberg. New investors in the round include the US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners and Temasek. Existing backers 8VC, Georgian, Valor Equity Partners, Xora, Eclipse, Perry Creek Capital and Nvidia also took part.
From testing to paid work Bedrock retrofits existing heavy machines with its autonomy system, starting with excavators. Since mid-August, excavators running its system with no one at the controls have done paid work on live job sites, the company said. The money will put more machines on customer sites. It will also pay for the field teams that keep them running. “We have proven that fully autonomous excavators can perform real work of value alongside the crews and workflows already in place on job sites,” said Boris Sofman, co-founder and CEO of Bedrock Robotics.
Sofman previously led autonomous trucking at Waymo. Former Waymo engineers set up Bedrock in 2024. New customers and new states Bedrock says it has more than doubled its customer base since 2025. Its latest partner is Haydon, an employee-owned contractor based in Tempe, Arizona.
Haydon is using the system for autonomous earthwork on a remote site in Texas. Haydon also plans to test trench work and larger machines. Other new customers take the machines into the Midwest and the South Atlantic. They include Wagner Construction in Minnesota, Smith Trucking Company in Florida and B&S Site Development in Virginia.
Native Excavating in Colorado, Clarkson Construction in Missouri and C.W. Matthews in Georgia have also signed up. The company has also hired two executives with backgrounds in driverless vehicles. Amy Jones Satrom, who worked at Amazon, Nuro and Uber, joins as vice president of operations.
Lando Juarez, formerly head of legal for Uber’s autonomous mobility and delivery business, joins as general counsel. Bedrock is one of several startups raising money for autonomy on building sites and in industry. Switzerland’s Gravis Robotics raised $200M in August, and Eka Robotics raised $150M last week, while Formic raised $50M.
