Another heartbreaking close call extended Hye-Jin Choi’s search for a maiden LPGA Tour title to 125 events, as she matched four birdies with a single bogey on Sunday to share second place at 16-under overall. The South Korean golfer, who has failed to capitalize on a 54-hole lead or co-lead on five separate occasions in her career, fell just one stroke short for the second consecutive week. Just seven days earlier in Shanghai, Choi secured a runner-up spot behind China’s Ruoning Yin despite topping the leaderboard through the opening three rounds. Her steady final-round performance at Pine Beach Golf Links saw her share the runner-up position alongside compatriot Haeran Ryu.
Breaking through for her inaugural LPGA Tour victory, Japan’s Yuri Yoshida captured the BMW Ladies Championship title with a four-round total of 17-under. Beginning the final day four shots behind the frontrunner, the 26-year-old ignited her surge with an eagle on the par-5 second hole, followed immediately by three birdies in a row. Although stumbles occurred on the 15th and 18th holes, a crucial birdie at the 17th provided Yoshida with just enough margin to hold on for the emotional triumph in South Korea.
Haeran Ryu had possessed a commanding four-stroke cushion heading into Sunday, yet her rhythm deserted her during a final-round 73. After carding 15 consecutive pars, the South Korean surrendered her advantage by making a costly bogey on the par-4 16th hole. Even though both competitors traded birdies at the 17th, Ryu’s subsequent misstep on the 18th hole enabled Yoshida to seal a narrow single-stroke triumph despite the champion’s own closing bogey.
Elsewhere in the field, defending champion Sei Young Kim recorded a Sunday 70 to wrap up the tournament tied for 55th place at 2-under. Kim had previously ended a five-year winless streak during the 2025 edition of this event in South Korea. As the late-season Asian swing continues, the tour travels to Kuala Lumpur for the upcoming Maybank Championship in Malaysia next week. That tournament marks the third leg of the circuit’s four-event swing across Asia.
