Artificial Intelligence Chip Credit: Canva The integration allows AI agents on XDC AI to verify the individuals or businesses behind them, addressing questions of accountability as autonomous agents gain financial capabilities. XDC Network has selected Concordium as the exclusive identity verification provider for XDC AI, its agent payments marketplace, introducing a system that allows AI agents to prove they are backed by a verified individual or business without publicly revealing the owner’s identity. The integration adds an identity verification layer to XDC AI, which launched in July 2026 and enables autonomous agents to discover services and make payments in USDC through non-custodial wallets using the x402 payment standard. As AI agents gain the ability to manage wallets and execute financial transactions, questions surrounding accountability are becoming increasingly relevant.
While existing payment infrastructure enables agents to move funds, it does not necessarily establish who is responsible for their actions. For businesses considering the use of autonomous agents in financial operations, verifying the individuals or organizations behind them introduces an additional layer of oversight. Through the Concordium integration, agents operating on XDC AI can receive publicly verifiable on-chain badges confirming that an authenticated owner stands behind them, while keeping personal information off-chain. The verification process requires agent owners to complete a passport and liveness check through the Concordium Wallet, conducted by an independent identity provider.
Once verified, owners link their XDC wallets using two signatures that do not transfer funds and register their agents to receive the verification badge. Under Concordium’s identity framework, personal information remains private, with disclosure requiring a court order and joint action by independent Privacy Guardians. “Agents on XDC AI can already discover services and pay for them in USDC. What institutions need next is to know who stands behind an agent before they trust it with real money. Concordium gives every verified agent an accountable owner without putting anyone’s personal data on-chain, so builders on XDC earn trust from their very first transaction,” says Atul Khekade, Co-founder, XDC Network.
The partnership reflects a distinction between enabling autonomous payments and establishing accountability for the agents conducting them. An agent’s ability to execute transactions does not independently verify the identity of the person or business authorizing its activities, a consideration for institutions exploring AI-driven financial services. “Payment tells you an agent can spend. It doesn’t tell you who answers for it,” said Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki, CEO of Concordium. “XDC has built the rails for agents to transact. We make sure a verified person or business stands behind every agent we verify, without making their identity public.
EVM or non-EVM, what matters is who is accountable, not which network an agent uses. That’s the assurance institutions need to give agents real authority. XDC is the first of many networks integrating with us.” Concordium already supports agent verification on Ethereum and Solana, but the XDC partnership marks its first full-network integration. Agents will retain their existing wallets, code and operations on XDC, with Concordium serving as the separate identity verification layer.
The agreement also includes a revenue-sharing model tied to agent verifications. Each verified agent creates a Concordium account linked to its authenticated owner, while sponsored network fees eliminate the need for developers to hold Concordium’s native CCD token.
