While the previous iteration is still available and discounted from $429.99, the new “Next-Gen DiamondClean” version is debuting for $379.99 even with its added capabilities. It doesn’t floss for you, but it’s cheaper than Dyson’s $499 CameraJet smart toothbrush that some early adopters are having issues with.The Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 joins a growing list of devices with built-in displays that have functioned just fine for decades without.
The toothbrush’s touchscreen can be used to select from eight different cleaning modes and three intensity levels, including gentle options for sensitive teeth or gums. The screen also displays a “12-segment mouth map” representing sections of teeth in your mouth that changes color to indicate when the motion-detecting toothbrush thinks you’ve brushed effectively, or where a redo is recommended.The toothbrush’s touchscreen can display a mini map of your mouth to indicate what parts have been effectively cleaned during a brushing. Image: PhilipsIn addition to the screen, the Next-Generation DiamondClean 9900 features a glowing, color-changing light ring on the base that works alongside a third-generation AI model and Philips’ “SenseIQ” technology to let you know if you’re pressing too hard during a cleaning.
