A tense opening quarter in Perth saw French defenders initially frustrate England, maintaining a scoreless deadlock until the 23rd minute. However, the resistance crumbled dramatically during the latter stages of the opening period as the opposition exhausted themselves. Head coach Brian McDermott witnessed his squad cross the line six times within the final 17 minutes before the break. Herbie Farnworth claimed three of those touchdowns to establish a commanding 36-0 lead at the interval.

The onslaught persisted after the restart, with the opposition’s tactic of short kick-offs backfiring and allowing Dom Young to secure his own three-try haul on 62 minutes. Full-back AJ Brimson orchestrated numerous offensive movements throughout his brilliant performance before topping off his display with a late score three minutes from full-time. Substitute Mikey Lewis notched a brace, while Matty Ashton, George Williams, Victor Radley, Jez Litten, and Jack Welsby also registered tries. Hugo Savala contributed 26 points with his boot, while powerful carries from Junior Nsemba and Kai Pearce-Paul consistently broke lines.

This dominant 14-try, 82-0 triumph keeps the English squad in contention for a spot in the Rugby League World Cup semi-finals. Having begun the fixture facing a massive 150-point differential following Samoa’s earlier blowout against Papua New Guinea on Saturday, the side significantly reduced that deficit. To advance, they must secure a second heavy victory against the Kumuls in Wollongong this Friday at 9.05am. Furthermore, their final-four aspirations hinge on Tonga defeating Samoa in their Sunday match on November 1, which also kicks off at 9.05am.
