Credit: 1Password 1Password has launched 1Password for Agents, a platform that lets personal AI agents sign in to accounts on a person’s behalf without ever seeing the password. Agents from Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceXSI are among the first to plug in, the Toronto-based company said on Thursday. Agents now book holidays, pay recurring bills and prepare expense reports.

To do that, they often need access to the accounts behind those tasks. Many people simply paste a password into the chat, which leaves a copy somewhere they no longer control, 1Password said. The new system works in a few steps. When an agent reaches a login page, it proves its identity to 1Password with its own digital key.

The person then sees which login the agent wants and why, and approves or rejects the request on their own device. If they approve, 1Password types the details straight into the login form rather than passing them to the agent. The password stays in the person’s vault. “An agent should be able to do the job it’s been asked to do without getting permanent access to everything behind the account,” said Aashish Tripathi, 1Password’s chief product officer. The launch partners include Muse, the personal assistant from Meta Superintelligence Labs, which asks 1Password for logins as it works through a task.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work and dots, Anthropic’s Claude Duet, SpaceXSI’s Grok Bot and Town’s Townie assistant are also on the list. Claude Duet’s sign-ins will follow soon, the company said. “I’ve been using 1Password since 2007 and I’m so happy to have it integrated directly into Muse,” said Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta Superintelligence Labs. Browserbase, Browser Use, Perplexity, Ramp and five other companies are also signed up, with more to come. 1Password gave no pricing or launch dates for individual partners. The platform builds on Secure Agentic Autofill, an early-access feature 1Password released with Browserbase in October 2025.

A researcher recently described how one hacker used AI agents to break into more than 100 websites. 1Password said its business vault protects more than 1.6 billion credentials and secrets for over 200,000 businesses.
